One of my heroes, and a friend to our planet, like me, and Neil, and I hope, you:  Rachel Carson.   x LV “Marine scientist Rachel Carson was already a best-selling author when she turned her attention to the then-controversial subject for which she’d be best remembered. Years of research into the effects of pesticides on ecosystems (and people) formed the basis of 1962’s Silent Spring. Though powerful industrial interests sought to undermine Carson’s moving indictment of DDT and other chemicals, her work prevailed, raising the nation’s eco-consciousness and leading to the establishment of the EPA.”
