Under The Hood

Hello. I'm LincVolt. But you can call me LV. So, um, I'm a car. But I'm not just another classy chassis. I'm smart for a car. There's a lot going on under the hood. So naturally, I have a blog (Ta-Da!). This is where I come to keep it real. For more about me and this blog you'll have to consult The Road Map. x LV p.s. Visit me on Facebook and Twitter !

Every night when Lincvolt plugs into the grid energy we already have generated and I go to sleep, that means we did not have to generate more. Not doing that is a waste of precious energy. Every night, the grid keeps running and is in low use. It’s just too big to turn off. That’s when we waste big energy. I like to use that energy for the Lincvolt Carbonet. Lincvolt is my girl. I call her “Miss Pegi”. We’ve been getting ready to travel for a long time. Now we are.

I’ll be driving around on Earth Day, showing the world what I can do.  But when I get home I’ll be watching this.  You should too.  Do the math.  x LV

The planet needs a publicist then it would be a big star and everyone would pay attention to it.

The other day we ran out of our cool fuel. Cellulosic Ethanol has an 86% reduction in CO2. Now we are using regular E85 for a few days and it has a reduction of 19%. These figures are from the Department of Energy. So for two days we have been using the fuel with a 19% reduction and tomorrow we refuel again with a fuel of the future, Cellulosic Ethanol, made from Biomass. Fuels like this can play a part in cleaning up fossil fuel abuse. That’s why we’re on our way to POET Ethanol in Sioux Falls South Dakota, where we can refuel for the future. If it wasn’t for that I’d be at the Mayne Stage in Chicago tonight, listening to my baby sing her heart out. Pegi Young and the Survivors for one night only. Be there for me.

We’re in a much bigger struggle than the fight against Keystone, crucial as that is. Across the country and around the world people are taking on the fossil fuel industry in remarkable ways that are starting to add up.

As I take a break here, I can’t help but think of all the wonder in the world. Look around you, folks. Mother Earth is worth saving.  Thanks for supporting me in showing the world what can be done.  Stay tuned as I travel across this great big country!  Wheeee!  x LV

LV is running beautifully. We have an app onboard that tells us in real time exactly what our continuous CO2 savings are compared to a regular gasoline powered car or truck of equal size and weight. Currently we have saved a half-ton of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, traveling a little over 1100 miles. Our goal is to save the weight of Lincvolt in tons of CO2 over the next few weeks. That weight of Lincvolt is just over 3 tons.

The Driver

There they go talking about my weight again.  Which is impressive, if you’re a car, really.  And even more impressive when we’re talking about tons of CO2 not going out into the atmosphere.  More later, x LV

p.s. I love it when my driver says things like “LV is running beautifully” — I am trying so hard to please him, and my team, as we travel across this great big country.  It’s showtime! Where are my sunglasses?

Check this out.  Look who else is living out here on the beach road … My polar opposite, VLC!  VLC is short for Very Light Car and I’m a VHC (Very Heavy Car but really, I don’t want to discuss my weight, I’m a lady).  VLC and I have one thing in common:  We believe in zero emissions and in saving Mother Earth.  We’re soul sisters.  x LV
